, the student he's accused of murdering in peru. he wouldn't say much about the holloway case, though, he kept talking about how guilty he feels for the shame he's caused his family and also for the lies that he's told, but really what the reporter and everybody else who pays attention to this case wanted to know were the key questions that have dogged him for years. does he have information that would solve the natalee holloway case once and for all? and more recently did he actually kill this young woman in peru as he confessed to doing. well, here's what he said about the peru case. at this moment it's not in my interests to talk about anything else, that is stephany, except that i feel really bad that the family had to lose their daughter. it really does hurt me, and i think about it all the time. so he expressed a lot of remorse without saying anything. the reporter kept asking him, i know you were tricked into a confession you say and he gave the detailed confession in peru about how he beat this young woman to death in his hotel room, well, i can't really talk about it. the reporter sai

sloot currently waiting trial for the murder of a young woman in peru. he's still the main suspect in the cdisappearance of natalee holloway. van der sloot says he took thousands of dollars from the holloway family. >> when he was arrested for the murder of stephany flores, the fbi accused him of accepting money in return for information lead to go natalee holloway's body. now during this interview with a dutch newspaper, van der sloot says he did it purely out of revenge. charged with the murder of 21-year-old stephanie flores, joran van der sloot has been talking, but not about that murder case. during an interview with a dutch newspaper, van der sloot admits to extorting $25,000 from the parents of natalee holloway in exchange for the locate of their daughter's body. when asked why, he says he did it because he wanted to get back at them saying, quote, her parents have been making my life tough for years. when they offered to pay for the girl's location, i thought why not. holloway disappeared in may 2005 in aruba and van der sloot was the prime suspect. four months ago he was c

in peru. now joran has given a lengthy interview to a dutch tv reporter where he admits to eggs torting $25,000 from holloway's parents, or trying to. and claims he feels bad for making up so many stories about what happened to natalee. michelle joins us from miami with more. why again are we hearing from joran van der sloot, michelle? >> that is a good question, chris. always. well, he says that he wanted to do this very long interview with the dutch journalist. by the way, the interview was partly in dutch and partly in english because he says he's been portrayed as a monster. throughout this interview he never really explains why people should see him in another light. but he does use the word guilt quite a bit. he says he feels guilty for a lot of things, the shame of his family, his father's heart attack and death, he should have listened to his mother just before he took that fateful trip to peru back in may. he also says he feels guilty for all the lies he's told over the years. he does explain that. he said all those made-up stories he told about what happened to natalee hollowa
